Process

 

The process of etching glass always follows the same steps:

  1. I design several compositions that reflect the desires of the customer.
  2. Once the final drawings have been selected, the 1/4" plate glass is covered with a flexible vinyl tape and the composition is redrawn.
  3. The entire composition is hand cut with an x-acto knife.
  4. Areas that are to be etched first are removed to allow me to see the basic flow of the compostion. This is what this stage looks like:
